BIM rollouts rarely fail on software. They fail when a team is asked to change how it works on a live project with the programme already fixed. So the work starts by watching how the team works today — who draws what, who checks it, where approvals actually happen — and fits the new workflow to that, rather than the other way round. Training runs on the team's own project files instead of sample models, so the first thing anyone learns is immediately useful.
You will recognise this if the licences were bought months ago and one person is still holding the model together.
Most teams already have a process. It just lives in people's heads and in the folder names of whoever set up the server. The work is to write it down and make it hold: model breakdown, naming, revision and approval gates, and a BIM Execution Plan describing what the team is genuinely going to do rather than what a tender document asked for. Documented once, it survives staff changes and carries to the next project.

Coordination stops being a meeting and becomes a habit. Disciplines federate on a fixed cadence, clashes are reviewed together against the model rather than described in email, and every issue leaves the room with an owner and a date. Where consultants sit in different offices and time zones — as on the Tata Projects MRO hangar — that cadence and a shared Common Data Environment carry the coordination that proximity would otherwise provide.

Nine years at the drawing board sit behind this. Modelling decisions follow the way a building is actually designed and built: detail is added when a decision needs it, not because a level of detail was specified somewhere. That keeps models light enough to coordinate quickly, and keeps the effort pointed at the questions the project is currently trying to answer.

Site teams read a new digital system as scrutiny unless it gives them something back. The work is to make sure it does: the model answers the questions site is already asking, and what site learns flows back into it. Technology strengthens the craft here. It does not replace it, and it is not there to keep score.

An established consultant team, rooted in traditional 2D workflows, was hesitant to take BIM onto a high-rise project. Rujuta led the full digital transition — introducing BIM coordination, training consultants to think in three dimensions, and bringing every discipline onto one shared model.
